Press Release:
On Sunday, June 28, at 6:00 PM, the Sacred Wood (Bosco Sacro) of Monteluco di Spoleto will host the world premiere of Compassion, a melodrama, a theatrical genre in which spoken word merges with music, for actor, dancer, and flute. The work is based on a text by Francesco Pullia, with original music by composer Giovanni Scapecchi, conceived and performed by Stefano de Majo, featuring flutist Monica Limongelli and choreography by Marika Brachettoni.
Presented with the support of the Pro Loco of Monteluco di Spoleto, the event is inspired by the words of the Dalai Lama, recipient of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, who has designated 2026 as the Year of Compassion. It also pays tribute to the legacy of Saint Francis of Assisi, eight hundred years after his death.
The performance is conceived as a journey through a world as fragmented and troubled as our own. Its purpose is to encourage us not to surrender to the abyss or to devastation, but rather to cultivate the awareness that the way out of the tunnel is not far away; it lies within ourselves. We can and must become bearers of light and builders of hope. All that is required is the will to do so by spreading compassion among all beings on our planet, without distinction of species.
